The Artist

Nick‑Edward Woolley.

"NE.W"

Nick‑Edward Woolley is a Caribbean‑American visual artist based in New York City with over a decade of expertise. He has exhibited at the Kube Art Center with Ethan Cohen Gallery in New York, Gallery Monnin in Haiti, the BK Historical House in New Orleans and the United Nations.

Mentored by the late Ronald Mevs and Patricia Brintle, his work has been featured in Haitian Times, Le Nouvelliste, ABC and Univision. Classified as a portrait artist, his practice spans acrylic painting, pencil and ink drawing, and curation.

His artistic journey is imbued with a love for history, BIPOC representation, women and feminine energy, the syncretic spiritualities of Voodoo and Catholicism, and the esoteric facets of subcultures. Through expressive portraiture he becomes an ancestral vessel — surfacing untold stories and quiet beauty while adhering to the discipline of artistic mastery. His pieces evoke pathos: the appeal to emotion.
